We had a very full December. It was the best Christmas season I can remember for lots of reasons but mostly because I got to share it with my two favorite people. And because Christmas activities are a lot more fun with a baby, especially a chubby baby with rosy cheeks.
We got our very loved (free) tree out early this year while Isabelle watched with wide eyes. She must have gotten hungry because she proceeded to eat anything green and prickly she could find. We fished fake pine needles out of her mouth all month long. (I was so ready to put the tree away by the end of the month.) Isabelle was entranced by the lights and she tried to eat those too. And the ornaments. We only decorated our tree from the middle up to prevent having ornaments with little bite marks in them.
Last year was our first Christmas together and we found ourselves lacking in Christmas decorations but not wanting to buy anything until the after Christmas sales. So we made cinnamon applesauce ornaments to hang on our tree along with a handful of others. We never did buy ornaments but we did start our first Christmas tradition as a family.
People told me Isabelle was a little chunky but I never really knew what they were talking about until now. WOW. I do love her chins in these pictures. I turned 25 this December and enjoyed my first birthday as a Mom. Matthew spoiled me with breakfast in bed complete with chocolate and we left Isabelle with a friend so we could go out on a real date. Why didn't anyone tell me indian food was so good? I'm in love.
It wouldn't be a birthday without an awkward family picture. I promise Matthew and I did not plan on matching.

This girl loves her Daddy if you couldn't tell. I'm pretty sure it's mutual. She also learned that she could stand on her tippy toes and try to reach forbidden objects, in this case the baby version of Cheetos. I hear they taste better than pine needles.
Like all good parents we took Isabelle to the ward Christmas party so she could meet Santa. She was not impressed. Unfortunately, we tried a second time with similar (worse) results. These pictures make me want to laugh and cry. Mostly cry.
