Isabelle turns one!!

Isabelle's 2nd birthday is less than a month away so I guess it is about time I publish this post from her 1st birthday. Especially because I wrote it six months ago and forgot to hit publish...

This post is just about six months late but I am not going to worry about that. Isabelle turned one and Matthew and I don't quite know where the time has gone. It may be cliche but she is growing up way too fast. We had no idea how much our little Rudy would change our lives and I had no idea how much love I had to give this little girl. I may be her mother, but she really is just about perfect.

Isabelle loves being a girl. I don't think this behavior was learned either, she just loves girly things. She loves headbands, shoes, and changing her clothes. When we put her in a big fluffy dress for church she admires herself in the mirror while wearing a wide smile. So, of course I made her a tutu for her birthday and of course she loved it.

I think Isabelle's very favorite part of her birthday celebration was all of the balloons. She could not get enough of them and she tried and tried to pick them up with one little  hand. By the end of the day she had learned that she could hold a balloon in one hand if she held it at the tie. She loved the balloons so much we had to hide them so she could open her gifts.

The highlight of the day for me and Matthew was watching our little lady eat her birthday cake. I put the cake on her tray and Isabelle just looked at it. She tentatively put a finger in the frosting and once again just looked at it. Then a whole hand and more looking. Finally she tried the frosting and then took a handful. She proceeded to eat by the handful until Matthew removed the cake from her tray.  I think she liked it.

Isabelle was given some washable paint for her birthday. We took a poster board and made a temporary number one, poured some paint and waited for Isabelle to make a mess. Pretty soon she mastered painting with her feet and body art. I would say it was a success.
